Police have discovered the decomposed body of a 58-year-old man inside the bathroom of a house in Karapitiya, Galle, Ada Derana reported.
According to police, the deceased was an unmarried man who had been living alone at the residence.
The discovery was made after a group of university students staying at a nearby house alerted the Karapitiya Police Post to a strong foul odour coming from the property. Officers who went to investigate found the man’s body inside the bathroom.
The remains have been placed in the mortuary of the Galle National Hospital for a post-mortem examination, which is expected to determine the cause and time of death. Police have not disclosed any suspected cause pending the results.
Galle Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
