Police have arrested a 35-year-old woman after recovering 1,000 narcotic pills during a raid in Samithpura, Mattakkuliya, on Tuesday evening.
The operation was carried out by officers of the Colombo District Crime Division acting on information received, Ada Derana reported. The suspect, a resident of Mattakkuliya, was taken into custody along with the pills.
Police said investigations are continuing to establish where the narcotics came from and whether the woman was involved in distributing them. No charges have been reported, and the report did not say when she is due in court.
