The United States-Sri Lanka Fulbright Commission (US-SLFC), with the US Embassy in Colombo, will hold the 2026 EducationUSA University Fair across three cities from 14 to 18 September.
Representatives of 11 accredited US colleges and universities will meet students to discuss admissions requirements, scholarships and academic programmes. Entry is free, but advance registration is required through the Fulbright Commission’s website.

The Kurunegala session is the outlier — a single hour against three in Colombo and Kandy — so students travelling to it have a much narrower window.
Who is attending
The 11 participating institutions are the University of Texas at El Paso, North Dakota State University, the University of Arkansas, the University of Vermont, Bowling Green State University, the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Fisher College, Michigan State University, New York University, Baylor University and Albright College.
The fairs cover undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral study, and organisers are encouraging parents, teachers and school administrators to attend alongside students. Programmes on offer include artificial intelligence and machine learning, computer science and cybersecurity, and biotechnology. US-SLFC staff will also brief attendees on Fulbright scholarships and fellowships open to Sri Lankan citizens.

US Ambassador Eric Meyer said: “The United States is the global leader in higher education and innovation, particularly in areas like artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and biotechnology. We look forward to showcasing that leadership through the U.S. universities participating in this fair and the American expertise they represent across these emerging fields.”
Dr. Patrick McNamara, US-SLFC Executive Director, said the fairs “connect Sri Lankan students directly with U.S. universities, opening new opportunities for study while strengthening educational ties between our two countries,” Hiru News reported.
