A fire that broke out overnight at a fuel station on Wagoda Road, Katugastota, in the Kandy district, has been completely extinguished, the Fire and Rescue Department said.

Three fire engines were deployed to the site to contain the blaze, NewsFirst reported. Several oil cans stored at the filling station had caught alight.

The department gave no cause for the fire and reported no injuries. Neither the extent of the damage nor whether fuel pumps or storage tanks were affected has been stated, and no evacuation of nearby properties has been reported.
