Twelve people were injured on Thursday when two buses collided in the Mahagodayaya area of Buttala, police said.
A private passenger bus crashed into the rear of a Sri Lanka Transport Board service that was travelling from Wellawaya to Monaragala, NewsFirst reported, citing police.
The injured were admitted to Sirigala Hospital in Monaragala for treatment. Police did not say how serious the injuries were, whether any of the injured were in critical condition, or how many of them were travelling on each bus.
No deaths were reported.

The report did not give a time for the collision, identify either operator, or say what caused the private bus to strike the vehicle in front of it. Nor did it say whether either driver had been arrested — a standard step after a collision with casualties on Sri Lankan roads.
