Two suspects aged 19 and 22 have been arrested in Batapola over an attempted murder in the Kahawa area of Ambalangoda, police said.
The arrests were made by officers attached to the Meetiyagoda Police Station, NewsFirst reported.
Investigations indicate the two allegedly acted as the gunman and the motorcycle rider who arrived at the scene of the shooting.
What was recovered
Officers recovered the pistol believed to have been used, along with 10 live rounds of ammunition. They also seized the motorcycle allegedly used to carry out the attack and the two helmets the suspects were wearing at the time.
Recovering the weapon alongside both suspects is significant for the prosecution case, since firearm offences in the area have frequently turned on linking a recovered weapon to a specific incident.

Kahawa lies in the Ambalangoda area of the Galle district. The wider Ambalangoda–Meetiyagoda belt has seen a series of shootings attributed to organised criminal groups, and the Meetiyagoda police division has been the focus of several firearms investigations over the past year.
