Ramya Sanath Amaraweera Wickramasingha, Chairman of the CBL Group, has passed away, the company announced on Saturday.
In a statement carried by Newswire, CBL said its late Chairman had “dedicated his life to building not only a successful business but also a community rooted in care, integrity, and innovation,” adding that his vision had helped place Sri Lanka on the global map while his “kindness and humanity touched the lives of many who knew and worked with him.”
“He was more than a leader to us; he was a mentor, a father figure, and a source of inspiration,” the statement said. “His passing leaves a profound void, but his values and legacy will continue to guide the organisation in the years ahead.” The company closed with the Buddhist tribute, “May he attain the Supreme Bliss of Nibbana.”
CBL is one of Sri Lanka’s largest food manufacturing conglomerates, with a portfolio spanning confectionery, snacks and convenient nutrition. Its flagship Munchee brand of biscuits is among the most widely distributed packaged foods in the country, and the group exports across South Asia, the Middle East and parts of Europe, building one of the more durable Sri Lankan-origin consumer brands in international markets.
The cause of death and funeral arrangements were not disclosed in the company’s statement.
