Specialist Dr. Chamal Sanjeewa has resigned as the Ratmalana Electoral Organizer of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB), citing personal reasons, NewsFirst reported.
In his resignation letter, Sanjeewa informed the party he would also step down from the SJB’s Health Committee, Civil Society Organisations Committee, and Anti-Corruption Committee.
He will continue to serve as a member of the party’s Working Committee and in his role as a Municipal Councillor.
Sanjeewa did not disclose further detail on the personal reasons behind the decision. The SJB, the country’s main opposition party led by Sajith Premadasa, has not announced a replacement electoral organizer for the Ratmalana seat.
Ratmalana is a coastal electorate in the Colombo District. SJB has been restructuring several electoral organizer positions across districts in recent months ahead of the next local government cycle.
