The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) ended Tuesday’s session lower, with the benchmark All Share Price Index (ASPI) falling 0.50 percent, or 107.67 points, to close at 21,424.71, according to data reported by EconomyNext.
The more liquid S&P SL20 index slipped 0.37 percent, or 22.04 points, to 6,000.15.
Total market turnover reached 1.089 billion rupees, with banking counters leading activity at 221.1 million rupees.
Dialog Axiata was among the main gainers, rising 1.37 percent to 44.30 rupees, alongside CT Holdings (up 1.25 percent to 508.00 rupees), National Development Bank (up 0.69 percent to 110.00 rupees) and Ceylon Tobacco Company (up 0.25 percent to 1,800.00 rupees).
On the downside, Vallibel One fell 2.88 percent to 91.00 rupees and Carson Cumberbatch dropped 2.74 percent to 710.00 rupees, while Melstacorp, John Keells Holdings and Hatton National Bank also weighed on the index.
The Merchant Bank of Sri Lanka & Finance set a reference price of 0.30 rupees per right for the start of trading in its rights entitlements. The stock closed down 5.31 percent at 10.70 rupees.
