Sri Lankan fast bowler Dilshan Madushanka has been signed by Sunrisers Hyderabad as a replacement player for the ongoing IPL 2026 season, stepping in for England pacer Brydon Carse who has been ruled out due to injury.
Madushanka, a left-arm seamer known for his swing bowling, adds to the growing Sri Lankan presence in this year’s IPL. Dushmantha Chameera’s Kolkata Knight Riders teammate Pathirana recently had his fitness cleared, while Wanindu Hasaranga was ruled out of the tournament entirely.
The 25-year-old made his international debut in 2022 and was part of Sri Lanka’s T20 World Cup squad. His ability to generate movement with the new ball makes him a valuable addition to Hyderabad’s pace attack in the absence of Carse, who was a key component of their bowling lineup.
Madushanka’s selection continues a pattern of Sri Lankan fast bowlers finding IPL opportunities as replacement players, providing valuable exposure in the world’s premier T20 league.
