A 26-year-old man has been arrested over the killing of both his parents in the Kiralawelkaduwa area of Embilipitiya, police said.
According to police, the incident occurred after a personal dispute escalated into a heated argument. The victims have been identified as the suspect’s 58-year-old father and 54-year-old mother, who were attacked with a sharp weapon.
The suspect was taken into custody in connection with the double homicide, and Embilipitiya Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
The case is the latest in a series of fatal domestic disputes reported across the country in recent months. Police have not disclosed a motive beyond the family disagreement that is said to have preceded the killings.
