The International Cricket Council has announced a record total prize fund of USD 8,764,615 for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, marking a 10 percent increase from the 2024 edition held in the UAE.
The tournament champions will take home USD 2.34 million, while runners-up will receive USD 1.17 million. The prize pool reflects the ICC’s continued investment in growing the women’s game commercially.
The 12-team tournament will be staged across England and Wales, with 33 matches scheduled at seven venues. Sri Lanka Women’s team is among the confirmed participants, adding to the country’s cricket calendar in what is already a busy international season.
Sri Lanka’s women’s squad has been preparing under coach David Siddons for the tournament, while captain Chamari Athapaththu was recently appointed to the World Cricket Association’s player advisory board, reflecting the team’s growing international profile.
The prize money announcement comes as women’s cricket continues to attract larger broadcast deals and commercial partnerships globally. The 2024 edition in the UAE drew record television audiences across multiple markets.
Tournament dates and the full match schedule are yet to be confirmed by the ICC.
