Israeli strikes have hit several towns in southern Lebanon in recent hours despite the 10-day ceasefire in place, Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency (NNA) reported — the first confirmed Israeli military action in Lebanon since the truce was announced.

A drone targeted the vicinity of the Litani River in the town of Qaqaiyat al-Jisr, NNA said. No casualty information was immediately available.

An NNA correspondent in Tyre reported a bombing in the town of Shamaa. Another correspondent in Marjayoun said Israeli forces carried out a bombing in the town of Taybeh, as well as between the towns of Al-Qusayr and Al-Qantara.

The strikes raise immediate questions over the durability of the 10-day ceasefire announced by President Trump on April 16 following Washington talks between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun. The ceasefire was scheduled to hold until approximately April 26, with a second round of talks planned in Washington on Thursday.

Lebanon had already agreed to Washington talks as a condition of the ceasefire, and France had demanded Lebanon be included in the broader US-Iran ceasefire framework.

The Israeli military has not publicly commented on the reported strikes. The Israel-Lebanon ceasefire has been fragile since its announcement, with Hezbollah rockets previously cited by Israel as a possible trigger for retaliation.
