Police have arrested two suspects in connection with a fatal shooting in the Korathota area, within the Nawagamuwa Police Division, that claimed the life of a young man earlier this week.
The Homagama Divisional Criminal Investigation Bureau took the two suspects, aged 21 and 29, into custody on the evening of July 19, according to Ada Derana. One suspect is accused of operating the motorcycle used in the attack, while the second faces charges of aiding and abetting the crime.
The suspects were arrested in the Delgoda area of the Biyagama Police Division and the Wanduramulla area of the Nawagamuwa Police Division. Both are residents of Ranala and Pallama. Investigators also recovered the motorcycle allegedly used to carry out the shooting.
The killing was first reported earlier in the week, when a young man was shot dead in the Nawagamuwa area, NewsFirst reported at the time. Police said the fatal attack occurred in the Korathota locality on July 16.
Investigations into the shooting are continuing as police work to establish a motive and identify any further individuals connected to the attack.
