Litro Gas Lanka has announced that it is capable of maintaining an uninterrupted supply of liquefied petroleum gas throughout May, seeking to reassure consumers amid ongoing Middle East energy uncertainties.

The assurance comes after both Litro and LAUGFS raised LP gas prices in early April β€” Litro by Rs. 775 for its small cylinder and LAUGFS to Rs. 5,700 for a 12.5 kg cylinder β€” citing higher global propane and butane costs driven by the Hormuz Strait disruptions.

Distribution had briefly slowed during the Avurudu holiday period before both suppliers confirmed operations resumed on April 16.

The supply guarantee for May is significant given that the Iran-US ceasefire expires on Wednesday with no deal yet in place. A collapse in negotiations could push global LPG feedstock prices higher again, though the Hormuz reopening and falling oil prices to approximately $88 per barrel provide a more favourable near-term outlook.

Litro Gas Lanka is Sri Lanka’s largest LP gas distributor, supplying the majority of the domestic market through its network of dealers and agents.
