A 22-year-old man has been arrested with a firearm resembling a revolver during a raid in Maharagama, police said.
The arrest was made on Sunday night (July 12) in the Railway Avenue area, within the Maharagama Police Division, by officers of the Western Province South Crime Investigation Division (CID). Police said the operation followed a tip-off received by the division.
The suspect, described as a resident of Railway Avenue, was taken into custody together with the revolver-like weapon. Further investigations into the case are being conducted by the Western Province South Crime Investigation Division.
