Police have launched an investigation after a man was found dead under suspicious circumstances inside a house in the Badovita area of Mount Lavinia.
The deceased has been identified as a 54-year-old resident of Badovita who had been living alone at the address. Police said a small cut injury was observed on the man’s neck when his body was discovered.
The body has been placed at the mortuary of the Kalubowila Teaching Hospital for a post-mortem examination, which is expected to determine the cause of death and inform the line of inquiry. Sri Lanka Police said investigations are continuing.
Mount Lavinia has been the subject of several other police-led inquiries in recent weeks, including an extortion probe by senior officers at the Mount Lavinia station and an unrelated assault case involving a foreign national. The Badovita area sits within the same divisional jurisdiction.
