A 39-year-old resident of Kuruppumulla in Panadura has been arrested in possession of a foreign-manufactured revolver, 49 rounds of T-56 assault rifle ammunition and nine rounds of 9mm ammunition, Ada Derana reported.
The firearm and ammunition were recovered during a search operation at a residence by officers attached to the Panadura South Police Station. Officers also found 4 grams and 280 milligrams of crystal methamphetamine, known locally as “Ice”, along with a digital scale used for weighing narcotics in the suspect’s possession, police said.
Further investigations are being carried out by the Panadura South Police. The combined firearm-and-narcotics seizure follows a string of recent Panadura-area cases including a Rs. 40 million asset freeze on a Panadura drug network and a 19-revolver Dematagoda haul earlier this month.
