Two βpirivenβ students have been arrested by the Eppawala Police in connection with the burglary of a mobile phone shop, during which smartphones and cash worth over Rs. 1 million were stolen, according to Ada Derana.
Police said the suspects broke the front glass door of the shop to gain entry. The burglary is reported to have taken place in the early hours of July 4 at a mobile phone shop near the Eppawala town bus stand.
The two suspects were arrested on July 17 during a special police operation. Investigators identified them as 14-year-olds residing at a monastic educational institution, or piriven, in the Andagala area of Eppawala.
Further investigations are being conducted by the Eppawala Police.
