Sri Lanka Police have released comprehensive narcotics seizure statistics showing massive quantities of drugs recovered in islandwide operations conducted since October 30, 2025.
Key seizure figures
According to the Police Media Division, officers recovered more than 1,418 kg of heroin, over 1,975 kg of crystal methamphetamine (ICE) and more than 271 kg of cocaine during the period. Police also seized 5,112 kg of cannabis and detected over 7.35 million cannabis plants.
Additional seizures included 316 kg of kush, 192 kg of hashish, 627 kg of “madana modaka” and 269 kg of “mawa.”
Enforcement scale
The statistics reveal the breadth of the enforcement campaign: 158,821 suspects were arrested on drug-related charges across 151,757 raids conducted nationwide. Detention orders were obtained for 2,579 suspects, and 1,974 individuals were referred for rehabilitation programmes.
Investigations into illegal assets were initiated against 277 individuals linked to drug offences.
Government’s anti-narcotics push
The figures cover the period since the NPP government launched its intensified anti-narcotics campaign in late 2025. The “A Nation United” national campaign, which included 520 arrests during the Avurudu period alone, forms part of the broader enforcement drive reflected in these cumulative statistics.
The Navy has also played a significant role, intercepting drug shipments at sea and seizing Rs. 4 billion worth of heroin from fishing vessels.
