Police officers have donated Rs. 9,687,462 from one day’s salary to the Rebuilding Sri Lanka Fund set up to support communities affected by Cyclone Ditwah, the President’s Media Division said.

The latest contribution brings the total donated by police officers to over Rs. 74 million, contributed through three one-day salary cycles.

The funds were handed over on Wednesday at the Presidential Secretariat by Senior Superintendent of Police C.C. Bamunuarachchi, Personal Assistant to the Inspector General of Police, to Secretary to the President Dr Nandika Sanath Kumanayake.

Cyclone Ditwah struck Sri Lanka in late November 2025, causing widespread damage to northern and eastern districts. The government has continued to collect public and institutional contributions into the Rebuilding Sri Lanka Fund to support longer-term reconstruction, with recovery estimated at USD 3.4 billion and a year-end deadline targeted by the administration.
