President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has chaired a pre-Budget discussion reviewing the progress of projects funded under the 2026 Budget and proposals for the 2027 Budget for the Ministry of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development.
The meeting, held at the Presidential Secretariat on Monday (13) afternoon, examined the performance of each division of the ministry and its affiliated institutions under their 2026 allocations, alongside proposals for the coming year, according to the President’s Media Division.
The President focused on the programme to establish industrial zones in areas including Dambulla, Ingiriya, Valachchenai, Millaniya and Katunayake. Discussions centred on difficulties in allocating land and developing infrastructure — including electricity, water and roads — and the urgent measures needed to resolve them.
President Dissanayake instructed officials to make every effort to complete all projects already initiated under the ministry within the stipulated timeframes. The current status of state enterprises under the ministry was also reviewed during the discussion.
The talks are part of a series of pre-Budget reviews being held with individual ministries ahead of the 2027 Budget, which is due to be presented to Parliament later this year.
