Sri Lanka Police have arrested a total of 706 individuals in a single day as part of the ongoing islandwide “Ratama Ekata” national operation, Ada Derana reported.
The arrests were made on July 17 during 708 raids conducted across the country, police said.
An investigation into suspected illegal assets has been initiated against one of those taken into custody. Eleven suspects remain in detention under detention orders, while steps have been taken to refer four other individuals for rehabilitation.
The “Ratama Ekata” (A Nation United) drive is a sustained national crackdown targeting drug offences and organised crime, carried out through daily raids by police alongside other security agencies. The daily arrest figures are released as part of the operation’s rolling enforcement effort.
