A 29-year-old man was arrested in Ratmalana on Saturday with a stock of hashish narcotics valued at more than Rs. 20 million, Newswire reported.
The arrest was made by officers of the Mount Lavinia Crime Investigation Division during a raid carried out after a tip-off received by the unit. Police recovered 3 kilograms and 125 grams of hashish from the suspect’s possession. Investigators did not publicly disclose the suspect’s name or the source of the consignment at the time of reporting.
Mount Lavinia’s CID has been a recurring lead in the western Colombo–Kalutara narcotics belt this cycle, having handled the Galle Road organised-crime raid that recovered a hand grenade and 100g of ICE in early June. Hashish hauls of this scale in Colombo suburbs remain less common than the heroin and ICE seizures that have dominated 2026 enforcement statistics, with most large recent hashish recoveries traced to airport interceptions such as the BIA grandpass concealment in a Thai Airways consignment in May.
