Former Sri Lanka international and 1996 World Cup-winning batter Roshan Mahanama has been appointed mentor of the Dambulla Sixers franchise for the 2026 Lanka Premier League, the franchise announced.
Mahanama, who is currently a member of Sri Lanka Cricket’s Transformation Committee and a former ICC Match Referee, will continue in the role after previously mentoring the same franchise during the 2024 season.
The Dambulla Sixers described Mahanama as a “World Cup-winning cricketer, respected cricket administrator, and one of Sri Lanka’s most admired cricket personalities” in their statement. The franchise said his experience, leadership and guidance would continue to support the side as it prepares for the upcoming LPL season.
The appointment is the latest piece of the Dambulla franchise’s pre-season build-up alongside its player draft outcomes finalised on June 1 and the broader LPL 2026 schedule confirmed for July 17. Mahanama is also a serving senior figure in the SLC Transformation Committee currently overseeing a forensic audit of the board’s finances.
