Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has announced a 15-member Women’s Under-19 squad for the upcoming tour of India, naming Chamudi Praboda as captain and Sanjana Kavindi as her deputy, Newswire reported on Wednesday.

The tour will comprise three T20 internationals followed by three one-day internationals. The T20s are scheduled for June 22, 24 and 27 at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, with the ODIs to follow on June 30, July 3 and July 6 at the Indira Priyadarshini Stadium in Pondicherry. The full programme runs through the first week of July.

SLC said the squad reflects continuity from the recent women’s U19 development pipeline, with several members of the side having featured in domestic age-group tournaments and recent regional tri-series. The selection committee, working with the women’s high-performance unit, focused on giving exposure to emerging talent ahead of the next U19 World Cup cycle. The tour is also expected to provide match-conditioning for several players being tracked for promotion to the senior Sri Lanka Women’s setup, where captain Chamari Athapaththu and her side recently completed the T20 World Cup preparation series in England.

The Women’s U19 programme has become a focal point of SLC’s broader investment in pathway cricket, with the board’s stated goal of building a sustainable pipeline of senior women’s internationals over the next four years.
