Seventeen athletes from the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) will represent the country at the 6th Asian Beach Games, being held in China from April 22 to 30, 2026.

The SLAF contingent will compete across multiple disciplines, including athletics, handball, volleyball, wrestling and kabaddi, according to The Island.

In team leadership roles, the Sri Lankan Women’s Handball team will be captained by Corporal Erandi WP of the SLAF, while the Sri Lankan Men’s Kabaddi team will be led by Leading Aircraftman Samarakoon SMCR.

The squad received best wishes from Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe, before departure.

The Asian Beach Games, organised by the Olympic Council of Asia, bring together continental athletes in beach- and sand-based sports and disciplines adapted for non-stadium settings. The tournament runs concurrently with a busy cricket week for Sri Lanka, with the national women’s side levelling their ODI series against Bangladesh on Wednesday.
