Sri Lanka Expo 2026, the flagship international trade and investment exhibition originally scheduled for this year, has been pushed to January 14-17, 2027 owing to prevailing geopolitical uncertainties affecting global travel and trade, the Export Development Board (EDB) said.

The exhibition will now be held as Sri Lanka Expo 2027 and is aimed at showcasing the country’s export capabilities and investment opportunities to a global audience.

“Sri Lanka Expo 2027 aims to showcase the country’s diverse export industries to global markets while creating a strategic platform that brings together business leaders, investors, and policymakers,” the EDB said.

The expo is part of a strategic push positioning Sri Lanka as a trade and investment hub in South Asia, helping advance toward a national export target of USD 36 billion by 2030.

The event is expected to draw around 750 local exporters and 1,500 international participants, including buyers, investors and media representatives. Exhibitor registration has been extended until 31 July 2026.

Domestic exhibitors and foreign buyers may register through the official website at www.srilankaexpo.lk.

The decision underscores the depth of the disruption caused by the US-Iran war and the Hormuz blockade, which have curtailed Gulf and Asia-Pacific travel, complicated air freight and weighed on buyer participation in major trade events across the region. Sri Lanka’s exporters are already navigating a USD 6 billion external-stability gap flagged by the Asian Development Bank.
