The Sri Lanka rupee was quoted at 335.70/336.00 to the US dollar in spot trading on Monday (July 13), with dealers putting the telegraphic transfer rate at 331.30 buying and 340.30 selling.
Government securities yields were broadly flat across the curve. Treasury bills were quoted at 7.61 percent for the three-month maturity, 7.91 percent for six months and 8.23 percent for the 12-month bill. In the bond market, the three-year maturity was at 9.24 percent, the five-year at 9.82 percent and the eight-year at 10.50 percent.
On the Colombo Stock Exchange, the benchmark indices ended little changed. The S&P SL20 index of larger companies closed at 6,206.51, up 0.02 percent, while the broader All Share Price Index eased 0.09 percent to 22,243.70. Turnover was recorded at 1,070.24 million rupees.
The rupee has traded in a narrow band around the 335–336 level in recent sessions. The currency remains exposed to external risks, including elevated global oil prices, given the island’s reliance on imported fuel.
