JVP General Secretary Tilvin Silva has denied social media claims that he was attacked at the party’s head office in Pelawatte by a member, calling the allegations baseless.
Silva responded in an interview with a YouTube channel, saying there was “absolutely no basis” for the posts. He alleged that content created by what he described as “mentally retarded social media activists” had been shared by others and used by Opposition politicians to run a campaign against the JVP.
No hard-news outlet has reported any independently confirmed incident at the Pelawatte office; the allegations exist only as social media posts, with Silva’s interview the only on-the-record response. The JVP-led NPP has faced a series of internal and opposition-driven political pressures in recent weeks, including 22 May Day rallies held nationwide.
