Toyota Lanka has held a groundbreaking ceremony for a new flagship showroom in Bambalapitiya, Colombo, marking another milestone in the company’s expanding retail footprint across Sri Lanka.
Toyota Sri Lanka Chairman Masaaki Kawabata, Managing Director and Chief Executive Manohara Athukorala, and Design Consortium Ltd. Chairman Architect Migara Alwis attended the event as special invitees.
Athukorala said the new showroom represented more than just a facility, describing it as a reflection of Toyota’s commitment to building stronger customer relationships and delivering world-class service standards. “This is a long-felt dream that is finally becoming a reality,” he said.
He noted that the founding chairman of Design Consortium, Professor Lakshman, had been a valued Toyota customer and maintained a 25-year corporate relationship with the company. Athukorala said it was a matter of pride that Lakshman’s son, Migara, was now designing the flagship outlet.
Designed by Design Consortium International, the showroom will feature contemporary architecture focused on innovation and functionality. Customers will be offered interactive vehicle displays, immersive brand experiences and test drives, the company said.
Toyota Lanka said the firm behind the design has been involved in a series of landmark projects in the capital and continues to contribute to the transformation of Colombo’s skyline through contemporary design. The Bambalapitiya development adds to Toyota’s growing network of showrooms and service facilities across the island.
