The United Arab Emirates Ministry of Defence said its air defence systems intercepted two ballistic missiles and three unmanned aerial vehicles launched from Iran on Friday, the latest in a sustained Iranian campaign against the Gulf state.
In a statement, the ministry said the interceptions took place amid ongoing hostilities with Iran. Three people sustained moderate injuries in the latest attack, bringing total injuries since the escalation began to 230 people of various nationalities.
The cumulative toll disclosed by the ministry has now reached 551 ballistic missiles, 29 cruise missiles and 2,263 drones intercepted since Iran began the strikes. The total death toll stands at 10 civilians of various nationalities, plus two military fatalities and a Moroccan civilian contracted to the armed forces.
No fatalities were reported in the latest incident, the ministry said, adding that the UAE remains “fully prepared” to defend against further attacks.
The disclosure follows the May 4 strikes on Fujairah and ADNOC oil infrastructure that triggered temporary flight suspensions at Dubai and Sharjah airports, and the May 5 second wave of attacks earlier this week. The Iran–UAE confrontation is the most sustained direct exchange between Tehran and a Gulf neighbour since the broader US–Iran war began, and continues despite the one-page memo and the reaffirmed Trump ceasefire on the US track.
