The National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) has announced a 12-hour interruption to the water supply for the Mahara and Gampaha Pradeshiya Sabha areas.

The cut will run from 7pm on 27 May to 7am on 28 May. The board said the suspension is required to carry out a water main pipeline relocation linked to the Central Expressway construction project. Residents in the affected areas have been advised to store water in advance.

The interruption is one of a series of utility works tied to the Central Expressway programme, which is being built in sections across the Western and North Western provinces and frequently requires the diversion or relocation of existing infrastructure.
