A Sri Lanka Army soldier was killed on the afternoon of April 17 when the wall of an old building collapsed at the Sri Lanka Army Training School in Maduru Oya, Eastern Province.

Police confirmed the soldier’s death following the structural failure of the aging building wall at the training facility. The identity of the deceased has not been publicly released.

The incident is currently under investigation by local police and military authorities to determine what caused the wall to give way. The building had reportedly been in service for an extended period, raising questions about the condition of military infrastructure at the Maduru Oya complex.

The Sri Lanka Army Training School at Maduru Oya is one of several military training installations located in the Eastern Province. The facility is used for basic and advanced military training exercises.

No other casualties have been reported from the incident.
