A private passenger bus travelling from Hambantota to Colombo crashed into a roadside wall in the Dadalla area of Galle on Thursday, injuring three people on board, NewsFirst reported.
The vehicle was carrying approximately 20 passengers along the Galle–Colombo main road when it veered off the carriageway and struck the wall, police said. Initial investigations suggest the driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel and lost control of the vehicle, causing the collision.
The three injured were being attended to, and police have launched further investigations to determine the full circumstances of the accident.
Driver-fatigue and night-route long-distance bus crashes have been a recurring concern on the Galle and southern expressway corridor this year, including the Punanai three-wheeler and tipper collision on June 1, the Meegoda Vesak dansala cab crash that killed six on May 31 and the Yatiyantota bus and three-wheeler fatal accident in early May.
