The Indian Men’s Selection Committee has named its India A squad for a one-day tri-series in Sri Lanka next month featuring the hosts and Afghanistan A. Tilak Varma will captain the side, with Rajasthan Royals all-rounder Riyan Parag as vice-captain.

The 15-member squad blends emerging talent with India A regulars: Tilak Varma (captain), Priyansh Arya, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Riyan Parag (vice-captain), Ayush Badoni, Nishant Sindhu, Harsh Dubey, Suryansh Shedge, Prabhsimran Singh (wicketkeeper), Kumar Kushagra (wicketkeeper), Vipraj Nigam, Yash Thakur, Yudhvir Singh, Anshul Kamboj and Arshad Khan.

The white-ball leg of the tour will be played in Dambulla. India A will then face Sri Lanka A in two multi-day matches at Galle, with the red-ball squad to be announced later. The fixtures form part of the BCCI’s “A-team” calendar designed to build a pipeline of senior international prospects against established sides.

For Sri Lanka A, the series offers a high-quality home-conditions test against two Asian rivals as the SLC selectors and head coach review the next tier of red-ball and limited-overs prospects. The Galle Test venue will host the longer-format matches in tandem with the regular international calendar.

The tri-series follows recent Sri Lanka A engagement in a one-day series win and the Sri Lanka A tour of New Zealand earlier this year. June also sees the Lanka Premier League’s new Galle Gallants franchise gearing up as Sri Lanka cricket’s domestic and “A-team” calendars run in parallel.
