Litro Gas Lanka will officially announce its June gas price revision on Friday (4), with the new prices taking effect from June 5, the state-owned supplier said.
A Litro spokesperson said reports underpinning the monthly price formula had already been submitted to the Ministry of Finance and the final assessment was expected on Wednesday (3). The revision will be based on prevailing conditions in the global LPG market and international price trends, Litro said.
The company intends to align domestic cylinder prices with movements in global energy markets when finalising the June numbers, the spokesperson added — leaving the direction of the change open ahead of Friday’s announcement.
Litro held cylinder prices flat through May, citing consumer relief, with the 12.5 kg cylinder remaining at Rs.4,765, the 5 kg at Rs.1,910 and the 2.5 kg at Rs.890 in the Colombo District since April.
The June revision lands in a sharply more expensive energy environment than the May review. The CPC raised retail petrol, diesel and kerosene prices from midnight on May 30, with petrol 95 octane up Rs.25 and 92 octane up Rs.24 — a hike the Petroleum Corporation linked to Middle East-driven crude cost pressure. The rupee has crossed Rs.336 against the US dollar, adding further import-cost pressure on LPG, the bulk of which Litro buys in dollars from international suppliers and ships into Hambantota.
