Sri Lankan logistics company Shermans Logistics, part of the Esna Group chaired by Eshana De Silva, has signed a strategic memorandum of understanding with India’s Glottis Ltd. to strengthen India–Sri Lanka trade corridors, the Daily FT reported.

The agreement was signed in Colombo on May 7. The partnership will focus on project cargo, renewable energy logistics, automotive, chemical, third-party logistics (3PL) and freight forwarding — an integrated supply-chain proposition spanning both markets and the wider region.

Shermans Logistics, with operations across Sri Lanka and a track record in handling project cargo for infrastructure and energy clients, said the deal aims to unlock new business in renewable energy and allied sectors. Glottis is a Chennai-headquartered logistics provider with multi-modal capability across the Indian sub-continent.

The MoU lands as the Trincomalee oil hub framework with India and UAE moves toward implementation, with Sri Lankan logistics players positioning to capture project work, and as the India–Sri Lanka grid interconnection advances under ADB’s Pan-Asia framework.

Renewable energy logistics has emerged as a high-growth segment for both economies, driven by India’s record renewable build-out and Sri Lanka’s broader oil and energy hub ambition with India in the Trincomalee belt. The MoU is the latest in a series of private-sector India–Sri Lanka tie-ups since the elevation of bilateral economic ties.
