Police have launched an investigation after the body of a 41-year-old woman was found inside a plot of land in the Bawila area of Eheliyagoda on May 4.
The victim, a resident of Kuruwita, was discovered with sharp cut injuries to the neck, Newswire reported, citing police. Authorities said the suspects behind the murder have not yet been identified, and efforts are underway to track them down.
The body has been placed at the Ratnapura Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination. Eheliyagoda Police are continuing further investigations.
The discovery is the latest in a series of fatal incidents reported across the Sabaragamuwa Province this week. Police are also investigating the killing of a 35-year-old woman in Kalutara on May 4, where her father was arrested in connection with a long-running land dispute.
