Parliament will convene for its next session from June 23 to June 26, the Committee on Parliamentary Business decided on Friday under the chairmanship of Speaker Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne, NewsFirst reported.
The sitting follows the June 9-12 session, which covered tax orders, a Rs. 20 billion supplementary estimate, the rollover resolutions for the state of emergency under both the Public Security Ordinance and the Essential Public Services Act, and a CBSL awareness programme for MPs ahead of continued debate on the 2025 Annual Economic Review.
NewsFirst did not publish an agenda for the June 23-26 sitting at the time of the announcement. The Order Paper is typically circulated by the Secretary General’s office in the days before the House reconvenes.

Parliament released the full Order Paper for the June 23-26 sitting on Saturday, Newswire reported. Each sitting day from 9.30am to 10.00am is allocated for Business of Parliament under Standing Order 22(1) to (6).
- Tuesday, June 23: 11.30am–5pm — Second Reading debate on the Value Added Tax (Amendment) Bill, two Orders under the Special Commodity Levy Act (Extraordinary Gazette Nos. 2482/09 and 2487/02), and Regulations under the Imports and Exports (Control) Act (Extraordinary Gazette No. 2487/29). At 5pm, the Online Safety (Repeal) Bill — a Private Member’s Bill presented by MP Ravi Karunanayake — will be taken up for second reading and referred to the Legislative Standing Committee with no debate. From 5pm to 5.30pm, an Opposition Adjournment Motion.
- Wednesday, June 24: 11.30am–5pm — Second Reading debate on the National Environmental (Amendment) Bill. From 5pm to 5.30pm, Questions at the Adjournment Time.
- Thursday, June 25: 11.30am–5.30pm — Government-moved Adjournment Debate on combating the drug menace.
- Friday, June 26: 11.30am–2pm — Debate for approval of an Order under the Sri Lanka Electricity Act (Extraordinary Gazette No. 2478/41). 2pm–5.30pm — Continuation of the drug menace adjournment debate.
The drug menace debate spans two sitting days and lands ahead of the government’s wider anti-narcotics operations under the “A Nation United” national mission, which Public Security Minister Ananda Wijepala said has seized more than 10 tonnes of drugs since October 2025.
