Two young men aged 22 and 24 were killed in a motorcycle accident in Jaffna’s Kopay area in the early hours of Tuesday, police said.
According to Newswire, the motorcycle veered off the road and crashed into a wall along the Point Pedro–Jaffna road in Navatkadu. Both the rider and the pillion passenger sustained critical injuries and were rushed to Jaffna Hospital, where they later died.
The victims were residents of Nelliyadi. Kopay Police are conducting further investigations.
The fatal crash adds to a string of motorcycle-related deaths recorded across the Northern Province in recent weeks. A motorcyclist was remanded in Eravur after a fatal accident, while a separate collision in Kuda Oya killed a 14-year-old girl returning home from school.
