Cricket West Indies has named a 15-member squad for the upcoming Test series against Sri Lanka, with all-rounder Roston Chase to captain the side and left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican as vice-captain, Newswire reported.
The squad pairs experienced campaigners — Chase, Warrican, wicketkeeper-batter Shai Hope, fast bowlers Kemar Roach and Alzarri Joseph — with emerging talents including opener John Campbell, left-handed batter Tagenarine Chanderpaul, batter Amir Jangoo and seamer Jayden Seales. Justin Greaves, Kavem Hodge, Joshua Da Silva, Brandon King, Anderson Phillip and Shamar Joseph complete the panel.
Chase’s elevation to the captaincy keeps the West Indies leadership group separated by format. Hope was named ODI captain for the Sri Lanka series at the end of May, continuing the split that began with the home seasons earlier in the cycle. The Test announcement follows the conclusion of the T20I leg of the tour, which the West Indies won 2-1 after taking the series decider in Jamaica on June 15.
The Test rubber is the final block of Sri Lanka’s June–July multi-format tour of the Caribbean and follows the ODI series Sri Lanka took 2-0 earlier in the trip. Specific Test venues and starting dates were not included in the Newswire bulletin and are expected to be released by Cricket West Indies alongside Sri Lanka’s previously-announced touring squads for all three formats.
